This first series of coins was minted from 1876 to 1889. The artist Johan Philip Matthias Menger (1845-1912) was commissioned to design the sovereign's profile. A renowned engraver of coins and medals, he inscribed his initials "JPMM" at the base of the sovereign's neck. A total of 3,719,857 copies of the 10 Florin "William III" coin were produced.

This reproduction is the work of the engraver Hoitsema, and the coin was minted from 1925 to 1933, with a total mintage of 12,286,067.
